Cardamom Oatmeal

 

INGREDIENTS
1⁄2 cup quick oats
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
1⁄2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of cardamom
Pinch of salt, to taste

1 cup almond milk
1 mashed banana

 

METHOD

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Allow mixture to thicken for at least 3 minutes before removing from heat. Pour into bowl and top as desired.

 

Apple Pie Steel-Cut Oatmeal

 

INGREDIENTS

 

1⁄3 cup steel-cut oats

1 tbsp ground flaxseed

1⁄2 tsp cinnamon
1⁄4 tsp ginger

2 tbsp chopped dried apple or 1⁄2 fresh apple, diced

1 ripe banana, mashed
Pinch of salt
1 & 1⁄4 cups unsweetened almond milk

 

Apple Topping

1⁄2 fresh apple
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon
1 tsp maple syrup

 

METHOD

  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a low to medium heat to simmer.
     

  • With a spoon or spatula, stir as it cooks, about 3 minutes.
     

  • Remove from stovetop and top oatmeal as desired.
     

  • For extra apple flavor, take an apple and thinly slice it. Add slices to a pan and bring to a low to medium heat. As apples cook and soften, add 1 tsp maple syrup, a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of salt and 1 tbsp water. Allow apples to cook and brown until completely soft, then serve over oatmeal.
